What's Included in a Scenic Cellars Wine Tour (and What Isn't)

If you've been comparing wine country options, you've probably noticed Scenic Cellars works a little differently than a typical tour company. No fleet of vans, no all-in packages, no itinerary that crams in six wineries before lunch. That's on purpose — but it also means it's worth being upfront about exactly what you're paying for.

Tell us about your trip and we'll walk you through what a day built around you actually looks like.

We Don't Drive You — Here's Why That's a Feature

Scenic Cellars is a concierge and itinerary-planning service, not a transportation company. We don't own a fleet of vehicles or employ drivers, and we're not trying to be a tour bus operator with a different name.

What we do instead: we build the day — which wineries, in what order, with how much time at each — and then we line up a trusted car service, matched to your group and route, and hand them your itinerary so they can arrange pickup directly with you. You get someone who actually knows wine country logistics handling the car, not a generic booking widget. The cost of that transportation is separate from our planning fee, because you're paying a driver for driving and paying us for the planning — bundling the two would just mean paying a markup on both.

If you'd rather handle your own transportation, that works too. Either way, ask us and we'll tell you what makes sense for your group.

Tasting Fees Aren't Included — Here's What Is

Our flat concierge fee is $125 for a one-day itinerary or $200 for two days, with a $50 deposit credited toward that total. That fee covers Scenic Cellars' time, expertise, and relationships with the estates — the actual work of building a day that fits what you want, not generic "best of Napa" lists, but a route built around your group, your pace, and what you're actually into.

It does not cover the tastings themselves. Estate tasting fees in Napa and Sonoma have climbed a lot in recent years, and they're paid directly to each winery, the same way they would be if you booked the visit yourself. We don't mark them up or take a cut — we just make sure you're not guessing which wineries are worth the fee and which aren't.

Why We Keep It to 2-3 Wineries a Day

If the goal is to check off as many wineries as possible, we're probably not the right fit — and we'd rather tell you that now than have you show up expecting a sprint. We plan a relaxed 2 to 3 wineries per day, not 5 or 6.

That's not a capacity limit, it's a deliberate choice. Tasting flights, pairings, and winding roads between estates take real time, and rushing through more stops usually just means a worse version of every stop — distracted pours, no time to actually talk to the people pouring them, a palate that's shot by winery number four. Two or three wineries, planned well, tends to beat five or six planned loosely.

If that sounds like the kind of day you want, tell us about your trip and we'll start building it.
